Switch with 2 lights in parallel

I think this is the typical way to wire a switch with 2 lights:

But I have a scenario where I can't put the 2 lights in series. Can I wire it like this?

(this is my modification of the above image)

The lights are wired in parallel in both pictures. They may be in a row but are still wired in parallel.
Black to black, white to white and ground to ground.
Doesn't matter if the second light is connected at the first light or the switch. The wiring is basically the same.
