Question

i wired a threeway switch and when the power is turned off at point a, the switch works fine at point b. when power is switched on at point a, the switch at point b doesn't work at all. if i open point b, point a works fine. if i close point b, point a doesn't work at all. the hot wire(12/2} is fed to the light and 12/3 runs to each switch.

identify the common on each switch. what you should have is one switch's common to the light, one to the power.
