Indoor or outdoor main panel in basement
Hello Everyone
I am from the Western NY area, city of Jamestown. They follow the NEC mainly and this weekend I am changing the service entry cable and meter socket in our house.
Here is the question
For a main service panel in an unfinished basement, can we use an indoor panel or does it have to be outdoor and can someone cite the NEC code number where this is stated.
Very much appreciated.

The panel only need to be outdoor rated if outside.
Is the power company coming.to disconnect power to the meter? How are you with a permit and inspection?

Hi there
Do you know where the setting is so that I get an email when someone replies to this thread. Btw, where in MD are you from. We lived in the DC metro area for many years, still have family in MD.
Got the permit, will ask to disconnect on Friday. Haven't scheduled any inspection yet, will call and see if he can come out Mon morning.
