Doorbell issue
So I was planning on changing an electrical outlet and I had to flip a few breakers to determine which one it was. One of the breakers was for the doorbell. Upon turning the breaker on, the chime box started to hum/buzz I killed the breaker and removed the R (rear wire). The buzz was still there. So I reattach rear and remove front wires. The buzz went away but the front doorbell did not work. Went to Home Depot and bought another chime box. I connected all 3 wires (rear, front, transformer) and buzz still there. Removed rear wire. No buzz and front doorbell works. I don’t care if the rear doorbell doesn’t work.
I’m curious to know why the new chime box works with the front and transformer wires but not the old chime box with the same wires?
