Adding 100 amp subpanel to garage.

I have 100 amp panel in my home and I want to add a 100 amp subpanel to my detached garage. I have 8 breaker slots open. What wire size do I need to get to power underground to my garage 60ft away?

If you actually need 100 amps for the new panel i doubt your existing service is large enough. Is that the panel size of the load expected?

I don't have an expected load offhand. Only things I'd have to power are lighting , outlets and considering adding a mini split. It is a 3 car garage with a shop space attached and I might actually rent it out. That's probably not helpful.

It would be most.helpful to know the expected load so the feeder can be sized appropriately. It is senseless.to move.forward.without good information.

Just to answer the technical requirement, for 100A you need either #3Cu or #1Al with a #8Cu or #6Al ground.
