Trying to hook up tire changer motor to switch
#41
Looking at other tire changers on the internet I see now that this is a foot switch. When you had it connected are you sure you are operating the petal correctly? It looks like you push down for one direction and up for the other. I recommend reconnecting the switch and jumpers as ray's picture shows and try it again. I am running out of ideas.

Not fami;iar with how to do it but may I make a couple of suggestions.
First hard wire the motor for each direction just to be sure there is no problem with the motor.
Consider using a drum switch suggested by Scott. Would it be that hard to control by hand rather than foot if the switch suggested wouldn'nt work for foot control?

It's only a lever that hooks up to the plastic peice on the switch . There now I have motor and switch laid on the turn tabe so I can work on it. I'm going to order another switch to see but I had it apart nothing burn up.

Hi, do you have a multimeter and know how to use it? Set the meter to Ohms, put one probe on one wire and touch the other probe to each of the remaining wires, the 2 wires that have the highest reading will be the start winding, the other 2 will be run winding, in order to reverse the direction the start winding needs to be reversed by using the switch.

If u look at the motor it has 2 red 2 yellow 2 blue comin up from the motor to the 6 connection on top of motor I'm getting reading on the 2 red 2 yellow 2 blue wires. But the 4 wires that go to the switch I'm getting reading on black and yellow/green and notting on blue and brown.

Harley, did you ever get this resolved?
also...if you look in the inside of the switch cover, there is probably a diagram of how the switch functions...even though it appears to be a normal drum type reversing switch.
and I need to stop clicking on the ABOVE reply button...DANG...
Would help if you could describe the appearance of the two capacitors, they could be either oil caps and/or electrolytics...each have a different purpose and are in a different location circuit wise.
