transition from conduit to NM wire

Running power to a sub panel. THHN Wire in buried conduit from sub panel to basement. In the basement the conduit goes into a junction box and is connected to NM type wire. The NM goes to the main panel. This is an old house. Basement is unfinished and is pretty much the mechanical room of the house. Furnace, well tank, fuel oil tank etc. All wire in this area are stapled to the floor joists and a visible. Will the wiring plan mention above pass inspection since the NM will be exposed on the side of a floor joist? There is really no way to box in the wiring. I suppose the only option would be to run conduit to main panel that would be tough also. Thanks

NM cable run parallel to the side of the framing should be fine.
