wire size for 200a main breaker

I am installing a 17kw generator with a 200a inservice ats . my existing breaker box is a 200a service so i am removing the main 200a breaker then running wires over to the ats 200a breaker. The distance is 10 feet with the routing of the wire.
My question is what size wire can I use? Some say 3/0 other say smaller like 1/0, can someone shed some light on this for me.
Thanks

Hi, seems a bit confusing to me what your plan is , can you sketch it out, at any rate the cable size should remain consistent.

From the generator to the ATS use #4 copper, for the rest of the service components which carry 200A use #2/0 copper.
