Question Wiring Attic Fan

Got new roof with fan installed . Now need to wire it, and it doesn't seem to be too complicated. Just wanted to make sure I'm dong it right.
I already have electrical wire ran into attic, that goes into junction box (can't see it behind the chair), then thru rafters and into the light.
I'm thinking of either splitting it from the light fixture or adding another junction box near light and running second wire from it to the fan. Which is the correct way?
Also not sure if I should add a switch or not. Fan has thermostat on it...

You shouldn't need to add a junction box. Connect into the one by the chair or the one with the light.
I think I would add a switch so it could be turned off if needed for some reason.
If the light is switch controlled then you probably want to go to an unswitched location.

That looks like a pull chain light which usually means it always live.
You need to install a switch near the fan for servicing.
