Unhappy Strange 3 way wiring

Can anyone explain to me how this is wired? I usually expect a 3 wire cable in a 3 way switch, but do not see it. This is a dining room ceiling light with a switch at each side of the room. They work correctly like a 3 way switch with one able to turn the light on and the other off and vice versa. There are 3 12-2 in the junction box of the ceiling light.
There is a romex that comes in you can see to the left, the black wire goes to light and the white wire connects to the other two romex black wires. Those two romex then have white wire together connected to light.

What you have there is a switch loop. The white takes the hot down to the switch and the black brings the hot switched back from the switch. This method can be used with a normal single switch or three way switches.
