Check outlets for reverse polarity.

What is the best, easiest way to check wall outlets to see if they have been wired correctly. I want to find out if the polarity is correct? Are there any easy to use, reasonably priced testers available to the non electrician a homeowner can purchase to test their outlets?

Go to Home Depot. Spring for 8 bucks to buy an outlet tester. The $8 version is the deluxe one that has a built-in GFCI tester. These things are so easy to use that your 10-year-old child can do the testing for you (mine did it for me). All you have to do is plug it in and look at the lights. A little table on the tester itself tells you what the lights mean. It is my opinion that every home toolbox should have one of these things.
