Switch/receptacle wiring: baffeled

Hi, Im trying to add a switch / receptical combo in place of a regular switch and in the same box i have another switch that turns on the bathroom fan i have 2 black wires coming from the box one is power and the other is coming down from the fan than there is a red wire coming from the box which is feeding the light than there is a white wire that is spliced onto the black wire that has the power that is feeding the fan switch. when i wire the new combo switch and recepticle i get power to the light switch, power to the fan but none to recepticle but my tester is lighting up if to say there is power but does not work

Welcome to the forums.

A cable is multiple wires in one sheath or jacket.
It sounds like you have 1) three wire cable and 1) two wire cable.
Ground wire is not counted.

Your description of connections is a little confusing.
It doesn't sound like you have a needed neutral wire.
A picture or two of what you have there would be very helpful... How-to-insert-pictures.

Did you add a white pig tail from the neutral bundle to the silver screw on the receptacle.

Joed..... read the problem.

There is a white wire spliced to black wire. No neutral bundle.
That's why I asked for a picture.

OK got it. We need to know where that other white wire goes and how does neutral get to the fan/light.
