In the U.S., no, except for15 amp receptacles on a 20 amp circuit the minimum is two (usually round) singles or one duplex.

In Canada the limit is 12 outlets on either a 15 or 20 amp circuit. An outlet is not just a receptacle. It includes any point that uses power such as lights, fans, receptacles. It does not include switches.

A question worth asking:

A (probably 4 inch square) box is fed by a single 120 volt branch circuit and has two duplex receptacle units installed in it. Is this 1, 2, or 4 outlets? (Okay to point out differences for locality, country, etc.)

In Canada it would be counted a 2 outlets for the 12 outlet limit.

In the US under the NEC the number per circuit is infinite and only determined by load.

Would a ceiling light fixture still be considered a single fixture if it mounts to one junction box, but has two or three sockets and bulbs on chains which hang from separate hooks?

In Canada a single fixture with more than one bulb is still one outlet.
