microwave starts slowly and dimming lights

I have a Kenmore microwave that is several years old. Lately when I start it, the turntable and fan noise starts up slowly, and after several seconds gets up to speed. Last time I tried it, though, my lights over sink severely dimmed at same time.

You could have a problem with your house wiring as opposed to the microwave oven.
Things to try: Unplug the microwave, plug in a hair dryer, and turn that on. Do the lights dim? Take the microwave into another room and plug it in. Is it still sluggish? Des a light plugged into the other half of the receptacle dim there too?

Do you still have any incandescent lights as stand alone table or floor fixtures? Plug them into different receptacles and try the hair dryer. If you ever see a light get abnormally bright you have a neutral problem that can start a fire or damage electronic devices.
