I want to install some Gfci's. My question is I know i connect the wires to the line screws and the ones leaving the box to other outlets to the LOAD screws. What if I dont want the downstream outlets to be protected how can i just protect this outlet, where do i connect the wires leading to other outlets.Thanks(im trying to learn Electricity freaks me out)

Connect everything to the line side and nothing to the load side. You'll need to use pigtails, because you can't put two wires under one screw.
