Can I use an old furnace power line to add an outlet?

I recently removed an old furnace from my man cave and I wanted to add an outlet in its place. Can I use that former power source to make a new outlet? Newer to electrical but pretty handy guy and fast learner. I’ve installed switches and lights and ceiling fans but that’s my extent of knowledge. Tia.

What voltage and amp rating? what wire size gauge? If it's typical 120 volt with 12 gauge wire and 20 amp breaker, you're good to go.

Hi, was the furnace oil fired? there is a possibility you may have an emergency switch outside of the area where the furnace was located, not a big deal it can be spliced through, just thought I would mention it.

Im not sure on the voltage whats the simplest way of checking that? As far as the gauge of wire it looks like two small white and black wires and a small green one. When I say small its like what you would see in a car stereo?

It was an old gas furnace

Send a picture. What is the breaker size? 15 or 20 or 30 amp

Buy a VOM meter. Initially set it to 240 volt AC scale and insert the two pins, read the needle. If no reading or very little switch to 125 V AC and check it.
