3-Way Dimmer Switches

I recently installed a new, dimmable, LED light fixture at the top of our stairwell. The light is way to bright and needs to be dimmed.

Probably a dumb question, but do I need to replace both 3-ways switches (top/bottom of stairwell) with dimmable switches?

Thanks!

No you do not have to replace both.

Although they do make three way dimmers that work with one regular switch.... they can be a problem to get to operate correctly. I recommend getting a three way dimmer with its companion switch. You can also control the dimming from both ends.

I use the Lutron Maestro line.
