running exposed NM cable in finished garage

I would like to install a new circuit in my garage with finished walls and ceiling, the ceiling height is over 8 feet. Is it permissible to run exposed NM at the top of the wall into a junction box then down the wall in conduit for the outlet?

Thanks

Jack P.

As long as not subject to physical damage you should be good using NEC rules. Local rules may differ.

For a cleaner look, I would recommend using conduit for all exposed runs. If you do, use individual wires like THHN.
