So guys we had a power outage here for 5 days. Luckily a friend of mine had a brand new 5500Watt Husky Gas Generator sitting in his basement for 10 years which he had never used so he lent it to me. 2 main problems we had with this generator was having to deal with gas fumes inside the house and the noise. Even though I had placed it at the back of the house, turning on a window fan was pulling the gas smell inside. Even with my 2 neighbors running theirs was the same deal we were getting the smell here on our property. I will be seeking to purchase a generator and would appreciate any advice/referrals on one which might have less fumes and noise? Thanks.

I looked through precious threads and couldn't find an answer to help. Apologies if this has been covered before. I have a VERY limited electrical knowledge. Please forgive me... Have an outdoor shed. Electrical setup is not up to code. (per home inspection when we bought house and its pretty obvious to even a beginner like myself) Power is supplied by an outdoor outlet on patio (cable is connected to outlet and runs underground to shed). That outdoor patio outlet is on the same circuit breaker as the master bath GFCI. When I press test on the bathroom GFCI the power goes off in the bathroom (like it should) however, the outlet on the patio, and thus the power in the shed, continues running. 1. Does that mean that the bathroom GFCI is downstream from the outdoor patio outlet and therefore is not affected by it? 2. It is my understanding that there needs to be a GFCI in an outdoor shed, but also it is not advisable to put a GFCI downstream from another GFCI. If I put a GFCI in the shed, would that create an issue for the bathroom? 3. What would be the correct approach to fxing this? I really am trying to do everything to code and learning as I go, but I am afraid this project may just be beyond me😬
