My panel seems to be a mess (Older home) I also have a sub panel. I have been around it enough times, but each flip of the breaker is a guessing game. So what I did was went to every outlet and switch in the house (or anything that has electricity running to it) and labeled them on a sheet of paper. Then I want to take that into a spreadsheet and put what each breaker the outlets or switches run to. So there is no more guessing, see what the outlet is labeled, go to the list, flip that breaker. What is the best way to do this? Just try one outlet, go down and flip a breaker until it goes off, mark it down, then flip it back on? And do that over and over and over for each thing? I even have some outlets in the kitchen that the top is to one circuit and the bottom another.... Is there a faster way to do this? Is it safe even to be flipping so many things on and off? Thanks!

I've just installed a Leviton vizia timer on one of my light switches. Super easy install in a two switch box - it had the hot, ground and neutral already pigtailed inside the box with another switch so everything was straightforward. . In a different 2 switch box, I want to do the same thing. When I opened it up, there are only 3 black wires connected to the switch - one hot plugged into the back (top location), another black attached to the corresponding top copper screw, and another black plugged into the back (bottom location). There are no neutral or ground wires attached, but there's pigtails of neutrals and grounds connected in the box. Also, the 2nd switch in the box doesn't have any wires pigtailed to the switch I'm trying to replace and all are going to their own romex cables. How can I wire this to a Leviton vizia timer switch? Hot to black - I'm assuming I connect the hot wire (but what about the corresponding black wire that was screwed next to it?) White to neutral - do I just connect to the existing neutral pigtail? Green to ground - do I just connect to the existing ground pigtail? Red to load - I'm assuming I just connect the previous load (plugged into the back/bottom location of the switch) Thanks in advance!
