Hi all, Thanks in advance for your input! I'm getting a 220v hot tub. I was reading some threads on this forum and I think I have pretty good understanding on the requirements of the last part of the installation (from the disconnect box to the hot tub). I have some questions about the wires/conduits going from my panel, through the garage (~40f) and the crawl space (~90f). I'm looking for a safe solution that would be the cheapest. I want the wires to be future proof, so I'm thinking about using 6 gauge wires (4 wire installation). Will this be able to handle a 60A hot tub, or am I limited to 50A? I'm trying to understand which wires/conduits are best for each part of the run. 1. Garage (~40f): I plan on installing the wire on the inside wall (but not inside the wall). Here are few options: a. Use a conduit and 4 separate stranded copper THHN #6 wires. Which conduit type should I use? b. Use a 6/3 romex. Do I need to use conduit for that? If so, which type? c. Use armored cable? (is there a 6/3 armored cable?) Which option is the best? 2. Crawl space (~90f): I already have a junction box mounted in the garage connecting a different conduit and going into the crawl space, and it seems to be big enough to accommodate another conduit. Is it a good idea to reuse it, or should I get a different box? As for wiring in the crawl space, few options: a. 6/3 romex. I see several romex cables in my crawl space (stapled to the running boards) with no conduit. Is it safe to do the same here? b. Use flexible conduit and 4 separate stranded copper THHN #6 wires. Does the conduit needs to be liquid tight? Option A seems much cheaper, but is it safe? Are there any special requirements on connecting the wires from the garage to the wires of the crawl space? Is using wire connector nuts good enough (assuming they are rated for #6 wires)? Is it better to try and avoid wire connections when going from the garage to the crawl space (I mean using same wire in both parts without cutting it)? Thanks again!

I added a new socket and a light in a closet in one of the bedrooms in the house. Turned power on and the breaker trips. I started removing stuff and discovered that the breaker now only trips when I have the run connected that goes to the next bedroom. I have not yet tried bypassing new outlet and light yet but cant figure out why it is tripping. I can't detect any shorts on the wires going into bedroom 2 and when they are disconnected no power is detected with any of my testers( I used a few digital and an older amber non LED test light that was recommended as it might detect low voltage. ) The new socket and the light work with no issues. All the other outlets work in the room just the outlets going into next room if I connect them up the breaker trips. The wires are older (1950's) I removed and replaced about 3 feet thinking maybe I shorted them out moving them but I went right up to a staple and cant see how any wire beyond that would have moved
