Ufb exposed on roof

Can you run ufb exposed on a flat roof for an AC unit?
The contactor wants to do it but I'm worried about possible ice damage in winter.
On the other hand, ufb gets buried with rocks and frozen ground and noone worries there...

How do they plan to secure it? UF is still required to be secured every 4 1/2' just like NM cable.

Why would you bury a wire in rocks? UF-B can be buried, but not in rocks. It should be buried in soil.

1. It is still to code to bury UF Romex directly even though once in awhile it is attacked by a woodchuck or other animal.
2. Laying on a roof, UF deterioriates in the sun which is not allowed.

You don't have to be a 'lectrician to know that this "just ain't right".

Even if it met all codes and was completely safe, it isn't going to look good.

Yes, as long as it is buried to the proper depth. (12" if 20 amps or less and GFCI protected, 24" all else)

Most UF sold these days is sunlight resistant.
