I'm installing a wall mount AC unit where an old one used to be. The old one was 14a 230v and plugged into an outlet that is not the same as the new 220 AC unit. The new one has the ground pole and 2 horizontal plugs. The old one has three plugs (the top one at 90degrees and the other 2 at 45 degree tilts). It goes to a fuse box with 2 30amp fuses. Is there an adapter for this plug available, or can I simply upgrade the outlet to the new type.

Never tamper with the cord plug on a cord that supplies an AC unit-always match the receptacle to the cord plug and never insert anything between the receptacle and cord plug. You'll get expert advice if you purchase the receptacle at an electrical supply house.

Change the outlet for the type required for the new
A/C. You will probalby need to pigtail the existing wires
(which should be 10 guage), with 12 guage wires to use with
the new recepticle. You will replace the fuses with 15 A type D fuses.
