24v to 12v rewind

I have a 1000 watt 24v Quick Flair winch but the boat is wired 12v including the reversing solenoid and magnetic breaker switch. Can I rewind motor too 12v

It would be very difficult to wind motor yourself. Unless you already have knowledge and resources to rewind motor, it is not going to be worth it.

Used to be you could buy a voltage reducer to take 12 volt down to 6 volt, perhaps you can buy something similar for 24 down to 12. I made one once to reduce a 9 volt car battery down to 6 volts so I wouldn't keep burning out the lights. Basically it was a LOT of wire tightly wound around a dowel.

I would add another battery to the boat and give the winch the 24 volts it needs. If you drop to 12 volts you'll double the amperage and will need huge wires and an even heavier duty switch.

Cheapest fix is probably to add another battery to provide the 24V the winch needs. A bit more expensive would be a 24V marine battery.
