4 11/16" box adapter

Is there an adapter that allows a 4 11/16" electric box to take a 4" square exposed work cover?

Do they make an adapter for a 4" box which does not have threads in the corners (only has threads for receptacles/switches in the centers) to accept one of these 4" square exposed work covers where the holes to secure them are located in the corners?

They make plates to install devices in 4-11/16" boxes.

Do they make them for duplex style receptacles? Have not seen those at most hardware stores, HD/Lowes. I'll look online
Regarding adapters for the 4" I mentioned - anything?

I haven't seen plates or adapters at the big box stores. I'd imagine it's a more specialized item that you probably need to go to a local electrical supply house to get.

The only plates I've seen at local hardware stores or HD/Lowes for a 4-11/16" boxes are either blank or for larger style receptacles (dryer/range).

That's the same thing I've seen. I see they can be ordered online however they are either expensive outright or inexpensive & you need to pay a lot to ship them.
I could use a regular 4" deep box without any brackets however can't use an exposed work plate because the plain 4" boxes don't have the corner holes to mount the typical raised exposed work plate. Probably just end up using a regular flush faceplate - in the end it will work fine.
My whole purpose for inquiring is because I tend to really like the extra room in the bigger boxes especially when using GFCI type receptacles + pigtails + additional wires, etc. Not a fan of always feeling like the boxes are tight with wires & room (even if I'm not actually exceeding box fill). Since the area I'm wiring is not finished inside the exposed work plates would have fit in well.

The picture I posted is standard duplex receptacles.
Do you mean a decora opening ? Like what a GFI uses ?

If you want to mount a 4-11/16" box to the side of a stud to be sheetrocked over....
you install what is called a mud ring. They come in single and dual opening.
Standards devices and plates go on over after sheetrocking.

. 4-11/16" mud rings - single and double gang.

What you originally posted was exactly what I was looking for - you had it right. The issue I see is they are fairly costly

I knew about the mud rings but I wasn't looking for them because I don't plan on sheetrocking the area.

I don't plan on sheetrocking the area.
Flat ones are also available.

That looks like a Raco 787 which is a 4" plate.

The 4-11/16" is used more commercially and with it comes higher prices.

The 4-11/16" flat plate is a 72c62a. Not inexpensive either..... +/- $8.
Doubtful the home improvement stores have it.
You may need to get them from an electrical supply..... Garvin 72c62a

Garvin also makes an adapter plate which I haven't seen before.
Not sure how effective it is. Garvin 72cp
