Question

How do I install a basic wall mount thermostat to a baseboard heater? Unit is 240 volt. I have one feed in, one feed out, and a switch leg to the heater. I have a series of three heaters.

For 220v thermostat, run the hot legs to the thermostat put on line side of it run the load side to the heater. Thats one cable with a black, white, bare to the line side of switch and one cable black, white, bare from the load side of the switch to the heater.
For 120v thermostat same only wirenut the whites together due to only one line and load connection point on a single pole switch.
If power is at the heater and you are sending power to the thermostat then remember you are just extending the wires from what is there now.Where you are removing the on unit thermostat; two wires for single pole, four wires for double pole thermostats. Not counting the ground wires(bares).
