This is probabaly an easy one but I want to confirm. Is there any reason why you should not install a dimmer switch on a 3-way circuit? I assume a 3-way dimmer is available. Does it matter which switch the dimmer is installed on?

Thanks
Jeff

Just did it last week to the can light that is shining on this computer as I type. Yes, simply buy a 3-way dimmer. Install it on either switch -- doesn't matter which one.

They may quite an array of dimmers to choose from. There are probably a half-dozen or more designs. You can pick whichever one you like.

Make sure you note the wattage rating of the dimmer, and compute the wattage of what you're asking it to control.

Also if you have halogen or fluorescent lights, make sure you get a dimmer listed for that kind of light, and make sure your light is listed as suitable for a dimmer. If you have incandescent, these worries do not apply.
