i am running a new light in my basement i am ok with the wiring part my question is what gauge wire do i use.

If the circuit is protected by a 15-amp breaker, use either 14 gauge or 12 gauge.
If the circuit is protected by a 20-amp breaker, use 12 gauge.
If the circuit is protected by anything else, post back for further instructions.
