wireing problem

I wish to add a double socket from an exsisting one in my conservatory. On opening the existing one there are two wires to all the terminals (positive negative earth)is it therefore possible to do it.

Still sounds possible. This receptacle sounds like it is in the middle of a circuit. To add another receptacle you need to take all the wires off the existing receptacle. Then wirenut the two blacks that are in the box already to two more new pieces of wire...one that is a pigtail (8 inches or so of wire) just to reach the existing old receptacle and one wire that runs to the new receptacle. Do the same for whitel and ground. Post back if you have more questions...like wire gauge or wirenut types...

This is called pig-tailing the outlet, and it sounds like thats what you need to do...
