220v breaker

my 220v cloths drier circuit at the panel has 110v on the black wire to ground but no voltage on red to ground or black to red.is my breaker defective?

If the breaker is on, and if you're measuring on the actual screws on the breaker itself, then I'd say yes.

thank you john,the problem i was having with my 220v circuit was correctly diagnosed as a faulty breaker at the panel.

Under Cabinet Mini Halogen Lights Safety Concerns

I installed 3 mini 20 watt low voltage halogen lights under my kitchen cabinet which are hooked up to a timer that comes on at dark and is on for 6 hours. My concern is that the lights get very hot, so much so that I can't hardly touch the inside of the cabinet above where the lights are. They are surface mounted to the underside of the cabinet, and I followed all the mounting directions. Should I be concerned about the safety of these lights? Maybe I should replace the bulbs with 10 watt ones, but I hate to do that because the 20 watt ones make the right amount of light.Read More

is it possible to remove a ceiling fan light

We have several ceiling fans in the house we just bought. Each of them has a light in it and we don't want the light, but we love having the fans. Is it possible to remove the lights? I have done very simple wiring like putting in a dimmer switch. If it is possible to remove the light, could I do it myself?Read More
