The smallest increase in current causes my lights to flicker and dim. When I run larger appliances such as my washer and dryer the problem occurs more often. In some cases the tv actually turns off for a second then comes back on. I'm waiting for the electrical company to verify my voltage coming into the house but does that mean if I only have 120 volt service coming to house that this is the cause of my problem? Someone told me that if you only have 2 wires coming from the pole then it's 120 volt. I do only have 2 wires coming from the pole but I dont know if the above statement holds true. If I do have 240 volt service what else could cause the flickering and diming?

i RENT A HOUSE, AND THE FUSE BOX THAT IS IN THE HOUSE NOW, IS AN OLD TWIST IN STYLE. I AM GOING TO ADD A NEW 100 MAIN BREAKER BOX, DO I NEED A PERMIT, OR HAVE TO HAVE IT INSPECTED!! tHANKS.....
