How much water?

This could be a lot of things. I'll just give you some ideas.
  • A plumbing leak almost anywhere in your house could be getting water in the ducting. This might be very hard to find.
  • Do you have a humidifier in your furnace? Is it okay?
  • Could your roof be leaking? Check in the attic.
  • Condensation? If a small amount of water and if your house is very humid -- although I'm not exactly sure where the moisture might be condensing.
  • Ice dams? Do you have an ice buildup on your eaves?
  • Was it a driving snow? Could snow have blown in through the gable vents?
