exhaust fan

I habe a problem with my attic exhaust fan. When it turns on, it blows so fast it creates a backdraft in my house. Is there anything I can do, like put in a dimmer switch. Any ideas would be great. Thank.

If this is a whole house attic fan installed through the ceiling into the house it is designed to create that draft but only when the attic is hot enough to activate the fan to avoid heating the house.

If this is an attic fan not mounted through the ceiling into the attic but mounted at a vent in the attic then you really need to take a close look and your insulation. This type of attic fan is designed only to draw air into the attic from another attic vent and out the attic vent where you attic fan is installed.

If you give us exactly the type installation and CFM of your attic fan we may be able to be of more help
