GFCI circuit
#1

Is the only thing that makes a GFCI circuit a GCI circuit the first plug receptacle in line? In other words, is the wiring still the same 12-2 3 strand wiring (20amp) and the circuit breaker in the box a normal breaker?

Yes, either the first receptical (with following ones connected
to the load terminals of the GFCI), or a GFCI breaker, makes
a GFCI circuit. No special wires or other materials are needed,
except decals denoting a GFCI protected outlet (optional maybe,
but all GFCI recpts I buy come with them), and if necessary,
a no equipment ground decal.
