Lutron Dimmer
#1

I have Lutron Skylark Dimmers (a slider with a on/off switch at the bottom, models S-600PH and S-603PH) in my home. On occasions, there is a flash of light (inside the switch) when I flip the on/off switch. Is this normal? Should the dimmer be replaced? Is this safe?
Thanks in advance,
Harry

It's probably fine. I don't think I have ever seen a light switch (dimmer or not) not flash. It's just the contacts arcing. I would not worry about it, but thats just me.

I personally haven't seen the fashing on that particular dimmer and my first believe is if it concerns you replace it then you can relax. Other wise I'd go to the Lutron web site and ask them I feel if you should see a light then it would be constant not just once in a while if your not suppose to see a light then there is something wrong and when it comes down to my house burning down I think replacing a switch to be much more economical then replacing everything I own.

I have installed Lutron dimmers myself, and have never been satisfied with them. Quality is not the best-even though it is one of the leading brands. Get another brand. Leviton makes good slide dimmers!
