Low voltage lighting
Indoor low voltage lighting seems to be becoming very popular ing restaurants and hotels. It gives off a very nice light. Is this type of lighting any more or less energy efficient than regular 120v lighting? I'd like to install it in my home office. Thanks.

By low voltage I'm going to assume that you mean a 12 volt MR16 lamp and the fixture has a transformer.
This type of lighting is only more efficient in that the beam of light produced is well controlled and can be easily directed for task and accent lighting. There is no savings when using it for general lighting where the goal is to flood the entire room with light.
