New project

I am going to build a small den onto my ranch home over the next month. I will contract all but the electrical work. I have a few questions. 1. Do receptacle circuits have to be 20amp? lights 15amp?
2. If I wire outside lights attached to the new construction can I wire with normal inside wire?
3. Will my building inspector give me a list of local code or can I find it on the net?
Thanks
Richard

(will be back for more questions, I'm sure)

1. Recepts and lights can be on either a 15 or 20A circuit.
2.If wiring will be concealed in the new framed walls, then yes, you can use the same cable.
3. The inspector will generally not layout all codes for you, but might answer a few direct questions. Go to the local library and get a few good wiring books.
