There are a lot of better ways to route the cable. The routing you describe makes it extremely difficult.

You'll need a cable with 3 insulated conductors between the first light and the first switch. Then you'll need a cable with four insulated conductors between the two lights, and you'll need a cable with 3 insulated conductors between the second light and the second switch.

Are you sure you don't want to route the cable in any one of eight different ways that make this much easier??? Check out this web site for a subset of your choices. Or visit your local home improvement center and pick up a free pamphlet that will give you even more choices.
