Ceiling fan control
I have a older SMC cieling fan with an infer-red remote control. The hand held remote no longer works.I would like to remove the infer-red receiver and replace it witheither switches for speed control or a variable control.
SMC does not have replacement controls nor did they have any diagrams for this fan.
I cannot find any diagrams for cieling fans to work on this. Where are diagrams available? Any help would be appreciated.

The SMC fan was several hundred dollars about 20 years ago. The fan it self works except you cannot control the speed and direction hence why I need a general diagram.
Seems to me a fan is just a motor that can go two directions and the control is what makes the decisions.
