Question 3-way switch. installation and wiring

I am building a new porch onto my house and want to have two switches to operate the interior light.. one at the new entrance and one at the old section of the house. I am assuming I will need to run a threewire from my panel to the first switch.. run to the second switch and then to the light? keeping my neutral(white) intact and connected only to the light..? any help would be appreciated.

There are many, many ways to wire this. The simplest (and the one I strongly recommend) is to run 12/2 to the first switch, 12/3 between switches, and 12/2 from the second switch to the light (you can use 14 gauge instead if on a 15 amp breaker). Any home center will have a free pamphlet on wiring 3-way switches. Also, all home wiring books will cover it. There are even web sites that cover it, but most only show a subset of the possibilities.
