Question converting 1 switch to 2

I have 1 switch that controls 3 canned lights. I have converted one of the canned lights to a chandelier which I want to control by itself. I purchased a switch that has 2 switches on one. On the existing single switch is a red wire and 2 black wires. In the back of the new double switch there are three connections: a common slot and 2 others. The connections using the existing wires allows one switch that turns all lights on and the other nothing is lit. If you can help, I would appreciate

you will have to seperate the chandelier from the original 3 can circuit. which means you need to run some wire. You can tap in to the power on the hot side of the 1st can or at the switch and then run power to the light.

Look here for more info and diagrams: http://homewiring.tripod.com/switcho...ghtswitch.html
