Good morning and thank you for your patience and replies...

Can anyone educate me when the ground wire came into existance, and when did it become part of the NEC?

Prior to 1960, my guess would be late 40s to mid 50s. Problem is that not much discussion appeared and no few knew what to do with that grounding wire. A grounding wire first appeared in a manufactured product called clothe style Romex to the best of my knowledge. Discussion and discovery in the industry as to what to do with the equipment grounding conductor didn't show strength until mid 60s and even then knowledge was spotty. The knowledge of today's industry is leaps and bounds ahead of what was known across the industry in mid to late 60s.

NEC requirements were present in the NEC prior to 1960 but how prior I don't know.

Best I know maybe someone else better at history concerning electrical can help pin down your answer
