hots only to sub-panel???

helping a friend out installing a sub-panel directly adjacent to main panel as he had run out of spaces in main panel. due to need to create some space in the main panel we wanted to switch some of the loads from the main panel to sub. as the original wiring is not long enough to reach the sub panel on these circuts i want to extend them by splicing with wire nuts inside the main panel.

the question is: Can i extend only the hots to the new breakers in the sub panel and leave the neutral and grounds on the buss bar in the main panel?

thanks, great forum

nope

All conductors of the same circiut must originate from the same panel. Plus the next guy that troublshoots something in the house will thank you for it.
