Determining # of outlets/lights on a breaker

I am planning on rewiring my house and installing a new breaker box, but I need to know how to determine how many breakers I should have. Is there a general rule for lights/outlets to go by. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

KP

A rule of thumb is 10 outlets per 15 amp circuit plus you'll need at least 2 circuits in the kitchen seperate from the lighting another for the bathroom recp, one for the laundry plus an A/C and furnace circuit.
