Light on telephone pole?
#1

I have a friend who wants to put a light attached to a telephone pole in his backyard.
And he doesn't quite know how to do it.
Does anyone know? Where do you run the wires, what box and that kind of info?

Since you refer to a backyard and it doesn't sound like this is a rural area, you are not going to be allowed to put anything on a utility pole.
My utility will hook up a light on their pole, hook it directly to their power lines and charge you a prorated monthly rate for the light and its use. Other companies, including your friend's may have a similar option.

What David said is correct. Contact your utility company for an installation. They keep the bulbs replaced free as part of the normal rental fee. I have one in my back yard that I rent that costs me about $7.50 a month. The rental fee is just tacked onto the regular electric bill each month.
