system overload
#1
Hi
just moverd into a house and noticed that someone installed a new walkway post lamp but has inturn overloaded the sytem so that if that light is turned on the circuit breaker kicks off. They did bump up the circuit breaker to 20 amps from 15. Is there any way of correcting this? Or should I rewire the light to another breaker?
Thanks a lot.

hi newowner,
if the light is tripping the breaker it may have a short in it. try rewireing it to a seperat breaker and if it still trips then u have a short circuit. id also chainge the breaker back 2 a 15 as it is more then likley wired with #14 wire and this requires a 15 amp breaker.
