Question

I am trying to replace an older outlet (polarized, but not grounded) with a GFI outlet. I know where the white and black wires connect to the GFI, but what does the green wire from the GFI outlet connect to when there is no ground from the wall? Also, does the GFI outlet work effectively when there is no ground?

hi Ron715,
the green does not attach to any thing whin there is no ground from the wall. u could pull in a green wire and attach it to a water pipe 4 a ground if u like. and yes the gfi will still work with no ground
