GFI under sink?
#1
hi,
we just purchased an older home and there is a standard 3-prong socket under the sink which supplies power to the disposer and D/W. My question is: Should there be a GFI outlet there? (there is a GFI above the sink in combination with the switches, but i don't yet know if they are run parallel.)
thanks,

Should have gfci outlets in kitchen and baths. Trip the existing gfci outlet off, and see if your disposal still works. If it does, then they are probably on separate circuits (dishwashers are supposed to be on separate circuits). A gfci outlet as the first outlet on a circuit makes all else past it subject to gfci, even if the other outlets are not gfci-types. Hope this helps. If you need pro advice, ask Sprky. Good Luck!
