switch placement? +any rule for outlet height?
Wiring up my bonus room now-
Just a couple quick dumb questions-
I know light switches should be placed next to each entrance to a room so you can turn on the lights when you enter. I've got 2 entrances in a corner of the room, 90 degrees from each other, with no room to put a switch in between them, in the corner. Can I put the switches just next to one door? -So that when I enter the room from door #1, door #2 is on my immediate right, and the light switch is on the far side of door #2. Is that OK?
Also, does the height of the outlets matter? I figured I'd be safe in putting the outlets at the same height as in the rest of the house- about 12 inches off the floor to the bottom of the box. I don't know if 12 inches is a standard or anything, but I've got a large window in there, though, about 15 feet long, that would force the outlets lower, and I need to put a couple under the window to meet the 6 ft rule, right?

One switch is probably okay from a code point of view (since one switch would be reasonably close to both doors) -- checking with your inspector would be a good idea. I might want to put two in anyway for convenience if it is practical.
You may put receptacle outlets at any height you want. If you put them above 5.5 feet, they don't count for the 6-foot/12-foot rule (so you'd have to put ones lower too). Most of the time, you'd just match the height of the other receptacles in your house. 12" is not a standard, and some people prefer them a little higher (say 18" to 24") so they don't have to bend over so far to plug in the vacuum cleaner. Closer to the floor might give you a little more leeway to position a floor lamp, and might be a little less obvious. Sometimes for desks, I like to put them above the height of the surface of the desk. Lower than 12" to be under your window is fine.
