question on dryer and range outlets/wiring

I am thinking I saw somewhere that the dryer and range plugs have to be 4 prong now, is this true? I am currently rewiring the house and they are currently 3 prong on the dryer and range. By NEC do they have to be changed to 4 prong plugs and outlets if rewired? Also what size wire should be run for the range & dryer?

All new construction ans (supposedly) remodled laundry areas need to be updated to the new 4 prong system.
2 hots, 1 grounded conductor(neutral) and 1 grounding conductor (machine ground)

Range 50 amp/ 6 awg
Electric Dryer 30 amp/ 10 awg

It is best to update the outlet configures now, as time goes on and the old 3 prong appliances start junking, the new machines have the new 4 prong.
You can still buy 3 prong cords and parts for repair on exsisting appliances.
